Michelle is a familiar face around the Colorado volleyball scene. In her career as a volleyball player, Michelle was a starter on two high school State Championship teams in 1989 & 1990, and was also named to 1st Team All-State teams in both years. Michelle played club volleyball at Nike Northwest Juniors for 4 years and her teams were ranked top ten in the nation. Collegiately, Michelle attended Portland State University where she was a two-time All-American, and she still holds the school records for assists and assists per set. Michelle then went on to play two seasons of professional volleyball. From 2000-2004 Michelle was the Assistant Coach at Regis University. From 2006-2008 Michelle was the Assistant Coach at Portland State University.
In her club coaching career, Michelle has coached at Nike Northwest Juniors, Boulder Volleyball Club, Colorado Performance, CVA, and Norco. While at Colorado Performance, her teams earned 5 bids to Junior Olympics at national qualifiers and 1 bid through the RMR Region. Michelle co-founded CVA, and while she was there, her teams earned three bids to Junior Olympics at national qualifiers, 1 bid through the RMR, and the 1st Open at-large bid in CVA history. Her team also finished Top 25 in the country in the 18s Division in 2015 at Junior Olympics. Michelle coached for Norco 15-1 last season and her team finished 5th in the nation in 15 National.
Michelle and her family recently moved back to the South Denver area. We are happy to have her return to Front Range for her sixth season with us as the Head Coach of 16-1 Black!
