Front Range Volleyball Club Expands Boys Club Programming for 2010 Season

Front Range Volleyball Club announces its boys division will expand to five teams for the 2010 competitive indoor season. The expansion incorporates four teams that formerly operated under the Colorado Performance Boy’s Program. For 2010, Front Range will field teams at the 18s, 17s, 16/15s, 14s and 13/12s age levels.
Front Range has an impressive history in boys’ volleyball. In 2007 Head Coach Brett Ammerman lead the Front Range boys to a region-first Open bid in 16s at the USA Volleyball Boys' Junior Olympic Championships, with a 21st place finish. In 2008, Brett's Front Range team won an Open bid in 17s, to finish in 15th place, followed by an unprecedented three-years-in-a-row Open bid with a 30th place finish in the 2009 Junior Olympic Championships in the 18s division. Five alumni from those teams secured college volleyball scholarships, two of them at NCAA Division I programs - one at University of California-Irvine (the 2009 NCAA Men's Div I champions) and one at Long Beach State. In the last thee years, 8 Front Range players have landed men's collegiate volleyball scholarships.
Returning players include 15 boys selected by USA Volleyball for the High Performance pipeline programs. Returning Front Range players also found great success in beach volleyball with a gold medal win in the USA Volleyball Junior Beach Tour at 16s and gold and silver wins at the 14s level.
The 2010 competitive season for the 14s through the 18s kicks off in early September with open gyms and tryouts and culminates with participation at the Boys Junior Olympic Championships in Austin, TX.

Boys Tryouts Coming Soon
Front Range VBC will host tryouts for all ages of our boys program later this month. For 2010, Front Range will field teams at the 18s, 17s, 16/15s, 14s and 13/12s age levels.
Front Range is looking for boys with solid volleyball experience and also for athletes that are looking for their next sport to master. We have had great success with athletes that have crossed over from other sports such as basketball, tennis, lacrosse, football, soccer, and baseball. The base athletic skills learned and developed in these other sports translate well to volleyball. Multisport athletes can be taught volleyball specific skills such as hitting, blocking and defense in a short period of time.
Tryouts for all age groups will be held at FRVBC. Interested boys ages 10-18 are encouraged to contact Bruce Decker at bruce@frvbc.com for more information. Complete tryout information will be posted on our Tryout page soon!
