Alumnae Hit Mid-Season Stride
College teams have passed the halfway point of their college seasons and there are only a few weeks left until the regular season comes to an end. Front Range alumnae keep providing great highlights playing with and against some of the best teams in the country.
Kindra Carlson had a night for the ages for #4 Washington in a 3-0 win over Arizona State. Scoring a career-high 24 kills is hard enough but doing it in three sets? That's downright amazing.
Sarah Ammerman improved her career best mark for kills in a match in two consecutive matches for #23 Texas A&M. On Friday, she put down 21 kills in a 3-1 win over Kansas. She followed that performance up with a 22 kill outing on Wednesday in a 3-2 loss to Kansas State.
Becci Burling strung together nine consecutive double digit kill matches this season, the most of any Duke player.
Kristy Jaeckel led #9 Florida with a 16 kill, .326 attacking performance in a 3-0 victory over Alabama.
Check out the weekly press release for the Drake Bulldogs and you'll find that Erika Price has a great picture and that she is second on her team in aces.
Ashley Kelican made her first collegiate appearance recently in a 0-3 loss to Nebraska.
Courtney Karst was the subject of an article in Tucson's newspaper, the Arizona Daily Star about her development as an athlete at #18 Arizona.
High School News

Congratulations to Emily Alexis for not only leading her Prairie View team to regionals but also for being named the MaxPreps/AVCA Player of the Week for Colorado!
Like summer gives way to fall, district playoffs give way to regionals. 48 teams became 16 after last weekend's matches and this weekend will pare that number down to eight in each division that will vie for the state title. Once again, we want to wish all Front Range players and their teams the best of luck!
In 5A, there are Front Range players on the rosters of nine of the sixteen teams. Good luck to Arapahoe, Chaparral, Cherry Creek, Eaglecrest, Fort Collins, Grandview, Highlands Ranch, Lakewood, and Ponderosa. In 4A, good luck to Lewis-Palmer, Prairie View, and Rock Canyon. In 3A, good luck to The Classical Academy. (Apologies for the omission of Lewis-Palmer High School from last week's list of teams competing in Districts and from yesterday's list of teams participating in Regionals.)
To see all the regional pairings, visit CHSAA's volleyball page.
Congratulations on your success so far this season. Keep it up!
