Daylight Savings Time Fun
Ever wonder why we have Daylight Savings Time? It was first proposed in England in 1905 but it was not put into use there until 1916. The US didn't come around until 1918. (How long until we use the metric system?) It was originally conceived in an effort to maximize use of summer daylight but the idea of energy conservation soon took the forefront. Recently in the US, DST was lengthened by the Energy Policy Act of 2005. The federal government may choose to extend the legislation or go back to the original dates after completion of a energy consumption study.
Regardless of why it exists, DST will begin on Sunday, March 8th at 2 a.m. That is the day of Power #4. Be sure to remember that day so you won't miss a play or officiating assignment that day!

Dig Pink!

By now, you should have heard from your Team Rep and/or coach about fundraising and clothing. Crossroads is getting closer and we want to be a big part of the "Sea of Pink"! For teams participating in week one of Crossroads, the Dig Pink™ Day will be on Sunday, March 15th. For teams participating in week two, the Dig Pink™ Day will be on Friday, March 20th.
Local news personality Chris Parente from KWGN will be covering the Dig Pink festivities at Colorado Crossroads. All Front Range teams will be a part of his feature, so we need be at the front door of Lobby A of the convention center by 6:15am on Friday, March 20th. Dress in all the pink you can! The more pink you sport, the better your chances to get on tv! See more of Parente's features here.
See ideas about how to get donations on Dig Pink's website. Remember that you have to have $500 in donations per team in order to get your team a Dig Pink goodie bag. Also remember that fundraising doesn't have to stop with Crossroads because until there's a cure for breast cancer, there will still be money needed for research and treatment.
Front Range teams will be wearing the Dig Pink Tour shirts available for purchase at the Water Marque booth at Crossroads (the same place you buy all your tournament shirts).
Let's go help in the fight to find a cure for breast cancer!

Club News
Check out who is on the cover of Worldwide Challenge magazine! It's FR alumna Katelin Batten!

Brendan Roslund, a FR alumnus and son of Crossroads guru Skip Roslund, has committed to play college soccer at the University of San Francisco next year. See an article about him here.

18 Black was ranked the 24th best 18's team in the nation by PrepVolleyball.com. That position was the highest for any team in the state! Receiving consideration in 17's was 17 Silver, which was given strong consideration.

And Now For Something Completely Different...
They're watching us and we're watching them. Hopefully, you have noticed that there are some people in our gym that aren't parents, players, or Front Range staff. Those people are college coaches who come to our gym to see our athletes for recruiting purposes. Front Range has a great reputation across the nation and you can tell by seeing who comes through our doors. Here is a partial list of schools that have visited us this season.
University of Kansas
Purdue University
University of Denver
United States Military Academy at West Point
Colorado State University
University of Northern Colorado
University of Colorado
University of North Carolina - Greensboro
University of Wisconsin
University of Kentucky

Keep an eye open for which programs come in to our gym in the future!
