Lauren Jaeckel (l) and Jacki Kane |
Look who's making names for themselves! The last two weeks saw Front Range alumnae Lauren Jaeckel and Jacki Kane making headlines for their respective college teams. Jaeckel was a dominating force for St. Mary's in a win over West Coast Conference Rival San Francisco.
Jacki Kane has been piling up kills and blocks at Binghamton University for four years and has entrenched herself in their record books, landing third in total blocks, second in blocks in a season and seventh in kills. With two regular season matches and the American East tournament still to play, she may continue to move up the ranks!
Speaking of statistics, a quick look at the NCAA's official statistics shows some Front Range flavor as well. Rachel Holloway ranks #7 in assists per game, Mekana Barnes ranks #3 in blocks per game while Jacki Kane is #15, Tracy Stalls is #3 in hitting percentage while Barnes is #9. With a month left in the season, let's see if they can keep it up. Good luck!
A Season On The Brink
Front Range Players Head to State
Battle Mountain, Cherokee Trail, Cherry Creek, Eaglecrest, Grandview, Highlands Ranch, Holy Family, Lewis-Palmer, Mountain Vista, Regis have advanced to this weekend's State Tournament, and each has some Front Range players in key positions. That's an amazing 10 out of 24 in 3A, 4A, and 5A teams that boast Front Range players. Good luck this weekend to all of you! (Also, apologies to our athletes at Fairview, a Regional qualifier, for our omission in our last newsletter.)
District play brought several articles featuring Front Range athletes. First on the list is a 5A District 3 tournament summary including Lewis-Palmer, ThunderRidge, and Fairview. Next up is a 4A District 7 summary including Battle Mountain, Eagle Valley, Glenwood Springs, Rock Canyon, and Mullen. Also from the mountains comes a 3A District 2 match account featuring Coal Ridge (another playoff team omission from the last newsletter).
Regional play also brought out the beat writers, yielding a summary article about upcoming regional play featuring Eaglecrest as well as an article about the Region A showdown between Grandview and Columbine.
Also, congratulations to all Front Range middle school athletes for your achievements during the Gold Crown season. Front Range was well-represented in the All-Star selections.
Please help us stay abreast with all the latest news so that we can share your success with the rest of the Front Range family. Please email eduardo@frvbc.com with links to articles that mention Front Range players. We look forward to seeing Front Range in the news!
FREE SCREENING FOR CUSTOM ORTHOTICS
Nicole P. Rabanal PT, CSCS will be offering free screening for Sole Supports custom orthotics to the Front Range Volleyball Club.
An orthotic is a supportive device which is placed inside footwear to change the mechanical function of the foot. It works dynamically during weight-bearing activities like walking, running and standing.
Functional dynamic casting is very important to ensure an individual correction and fit. Sole Supports is the only manufacture providing a full arch contact orthotic, thus changing the way your foot works and providing comfort at the same time. Correcting the biomechanics of the foot may help alleviate foot, knee, hip and back pain through control of excessive pronation.
The screening includes a ten minute evaluation of standing posture, arch height, functional loading of the foot and leg and a pedograph (an ink footprint analyzing weight distribution through the foot while walking).
The orthotics are being offered at a reduced cost of $200.00. This includes the evaluation, casting and shipping. This same product can be purchased for $300 - $500, depending on the provider. Nicole, as an FRVBC alum, is willing to donate her time in an effort to give back to an organization that was so beneficial to her as a young athlete.
Parental consent is required and there is a strict break-in protocol that must be followed.
If you are interested please sign up using Sign Up To Play. (Instructions for using Sign Up To Play can be found here. The camp is called "08 Orthotic Screening" and will take place November 30th from 4:00pm – 6:30pm at Front Range. Payment is required at the time of casting, made payable to Kinetic Energy Physical Therapy P.C. Please be sure to print the disclosure form and bring it with you to the screening.
Only 15 spaces are available so sign up soon!
