This week's featured alumnae match up: Lauren Prussing vs. Becci Burling. Lauren is a junior at the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill. Becci is a freshman at Duke University in nearby Durham, North Carolina. This past Sunday, the two squared off against each other in an ACC contest at Chapel Hill. The teams went the distance, with #13 Duke outlasting UNC in 5 sets. It was an impressive night for both Front Range alumnae as Burling recorded a personal best 14 kills while Prussing led all UNC attackers with 12 kills and 15 points. Becci has seen considerable playing time in her first year at Duke while Lauren leads the Tarheels in kills.

We wish both athletes the best of luck as they move into the second half of the ACC season!

Entering the Home Stretch

Front Range Players in the news

It seems like Front Range's Mountain Division players are keeping the volleyball beat writers in business. We are proud of our athletes as they continue to show everyone in the mountains how Front Range does it. Here are links to a few articles featuring Front Range MD athletes: Toni Gottschalck and Kelly Lawson, team mates at Glenwood Springs HS were featured in four different articles (1, 2, 3, 4). Whitney VanVoorst was also featured after her team's victory last week. Congratulations to all of you for your contributions!

Highlands Ranch HS has been on a tear of late and Front Range players are playing a large part in the success of the Falcons. Check out articles featuring Front Range players Bri Smith, Kristina Rogers, Emily Nielsen, Holly Sabatka, Hannah Margheim, and Kelsie Edwards (1, 2). The first article also features Mikinzie Moydell at Chaparral. The second article also features Ariel Turner and Mandy Bauer.

Please help us stay abreast with all the latest news so that we can share your success with the rest of the Front Range family. Please email eduardo@frvbc.com with links to articles that mention Front Range players. We look forward to seeing Front Range in the news!

Senior Signing

Jennah DeVries

Congratulations to Jennah DeVries for her recent commitment to New Mexico State University. Jennah, a senior at Douglas County HS will sign a National Letter of Intent next month to play for coach Michael Jordan (no, not that Michael Jordan) and the NMSU Aggies in the fall. Jennah will follow in the footsteps of another Front Range alumna, Bri Akrie, in playing at the nationally-ranked program.

Fall Camps: Like Summer Camp But Without the Homesickness

Don't forget that there are still a few opportunities to hone your skills before the club season is upon us. There are several once-a-week series options: Hitter Boot Camp and Setter Boot Camp, and Libero Camp. We also have a few single-session clinics remaining in the Setter Clinic and Hitter Clinic specialty series. See our camp page on our website for more information.

And Now For Something Completely Different...

A women in sport fact in honor of the 35th anniversary of Title IX: Studies show that even short-term involvement in sports can increase muscle strength in children. After the age of 14, sedentary girls will actually begin to lose aerobic power and muscle strength until adulthood unless they are physically active.
