An Ammerman Update
In case you were worried that Front Range was running out of Ammermans, there is relief in sight. Mary Lynn Ammerman was born April 4th at 4:46pm, weighing 6 lb. 5 oz. and measuring 20 inches long. Both mother and child are doing well.
In addition to the new addition, the two current Ammerman offspring in the club have been selected for High Performance teams.
Dalton Ammerman was selected to the USA Select A1 squad which will train for five days before participating in the Boys US High Performance Championships in Ft. Lauderdale this July. To see more information about Dalton's team mates and their trip to Florida this summer, visit this page on USA Volleyball's website.
Luke Ammerman was selected to attend the USA Select A2 Camp in Colorado Springs. Luke will spend six days training at the Olympic Training Center. See more about Luke's team by following this link to USA Volleyball's website.
The boys were selected from approximately 300 other boys who tried out at twelve High Performance tryouts held across the country. Dalton and Luke were the only two boys chosen from Colorado.
Congratulations to the Ammermans, both big and small! (All the ones I've ever seen are big!) Front Range wishes you all the best.
Front Range College Commitments
Congratulations are in order for several members of Front Range's junior class. Four players, three from 18 Black and one from 17 Silver have given verbal commitments to Division I universities in the past two months.
Amanda Arterburn, a libero for Black and a junior at Smoky Hill High School, has elected to play volleyball for the University of Northern Colorado, joining FR alumna Kristen Schevikhoven. The UNC Bears play in the Big Sky conference and are coached by Lyndsey Benson. Playing in the Big Sky will allow Amanda to see her former high school and Front Range coach, Steve Huntingdale who is now an assistant coach for the Montana State Bobcats.
Ariana Filho, a middle blocker for Black and junior at Lewis-Palmer High School, will attend the University of Minnesota at Twin Cities. The Minnesota Golden Gophers play in the Big Ten. Ariana will be playing for head coach Mike Hebert, a college volleyball legend in the US. Minnesota finished last season ranked #6 by the AVCA. Playing in the Big Ten will allow Ariana to compete against some of the top volleyball programs in the nation.
Courtney Karst, a middle blocker and opposite for Black and a junior at Eaglecrest High School, has chosen the University of Arizona in Tucson as the place to continue her volleyball career. The Arizona Wildcats play in the Pacific Ten conference, a conference that is considered one of the premier volleyball conferences in the nation. The Wildcats are coached by David Rubio, who has taken the team to the national semifinals once during his tenure.
Lauren Van Orden, a setter and outside hitter on Silver and a junior at Grandview High School, will go West to attend San Diego State University. The SDSU Aztecs play in the Mountain West conference and are coached by Mark Warner. By competing in the MWC, Lauren will see at least five other Front Range alumnae. Lauren will see former club mates at four of the nine schools in the conference; including former White and Blue team mate Evan Sanders.
