Developing Your Daughter: A Collaborative Effort
Every year we collaborate with informed individuals to help us become better coaches for your daughters.
As coaches we study the game and explore new and better ways to train skill, develop smooth and effective team systems, develop competitiveness responses in our teams, and work toward adaptability in tournaments. All the while we’re working to prepare each athlete for the next competitive step, whether in our club or elsewhere in the next level of their development.
When you look at a professional team, you’ll see a head coach who is ultimately responsible for the success of the team. This coach, however, uses many resources, to help achieve his objective.
We implement the same concept at Front Range. We look to people who have specific knowledge to help us be successful.
For example, we use the resource of XLN Sports and Billy Glisan, the Director of XLN Sports, to assist us in more efficiently and effectively developing strength, quickness and explosiveness in our athletes. He cycles the training load so they can improve and at the same time be their best at the most important times of the year.
Another resource we use is Tim Engels. Tim helps to educate and guide our coaching staff to effectively develop the mental toughness of our athletes so they can learn to thrive and flourish in the highly competitive arena of national level club volleyball.
A sometimes-overlooked (or maybe underutilized) resource is our parents. You often have valuable information that if you share it with us, can dramatically increase our effectiveness, and speed your daughter’s progress.
There are two very important things you can do:
- Encourage your daughter to bring questions and concerns to her coach.
- Communicate information you believe to be important, to your daughters coach, as well as sharing any concerns you have.
Your daughters are very tough, and often do not show us when they are confused, or distraught, or struggling. We want to know when your daughter is struggling, or is frustrated.. With your help we can learn when to reach out to your daughter, and work with her to overcome whatever struggle or obstacle she may be encountering. Please join us in this collaboration to help your daughters improve, progress, and develop during their time in FRVBC. - Head Coach Jim Miret

If you spend your time at tournaments patrolling the sidelines with your digital camera, snapping away at the sound of a referee's whistle, please email Eduardo at eduardo@frvbc.com. We are always looking for pictures to add to our newsletters. Thanks for your willingness to help.
